I very much agree with Ben’s characterization. I don’t think Musk has the intelligence, the self-awareness, or the emotional maturity to make a complex, calculated decision like pretending to be a right-winger for the sake of business. It’s pretty obvious by now that he’s just a garden-variety fragile-narcissistic grifter with sociopathic tendencies who stumbled into “success” purely on account of luck and being born into enormous generational wealth and who’s driven more by—in Ben’s words—impotent range and spite towards those he perceives as having “wronged” him than anything else…
On the plus side, though, once the global economy starts to head south and it becomes harder and harder for him to hide all the fraudulent account practices and Ponzi schemes he’s no doubt running, it’s only a matter of time before Elon becomes Enron….
I think the answer to Elon's right wing stance can be traced back to his childhood in apartheid South Africa (see also, Peter Thiel); years at Stanford (also, Thiel); and being the grandson of a Canadian eugenicist. I think the trans kid came later although it has not really improved anything, clearly.
Ed, I'm with you. I want to watch CEOs fight. This was a great conversation, I look forward to many more. Ben Collins was a great guest, and I also join him in saying, "I thought we were smarter than this." Unfortunately, we are not.

Any chance this will get added to Castro?
Has anyone managed to get the RSS feed to work in Overcast?

"Bluesky reminds me of an alt-weekly." That's perfect.
This rocks.
